Early Childhood Education Concept

Early childhood education is a concept that focuses on the development of the intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors that are needed for the optimal development of a child. It also deals with the enlightenment of the parents or caregiver view on child education. The implementation of early education of a child has the potential to accelerate the development of the child in mental and psychological functions.

The first place a child experience any form of education is the family, so parents are the first teacher’s children are exposed to. The best time to initiate the early childhood education is between zeros to six years, if this specific period in a child's development life is missing, its desired goal may be compromised.

From the psychological point of view, from zero to six years of the child development and growth is a critical period, in which solid foundation that can help the child to have a strong psychological interest can be laid. The early child education is not only about the intellectual development of the child as the non-intellectual also plays a vital role in the overall development and future usefulness of a child.

Some of the intellectual factors that early childhood education seeks to address are child intelligence (the ability to learn), perception, imagination, thinking and so on. The intelligence or ability to learn refers to the child's intelligence quotient, children are known to have a rapid intelligence quotient growth, and thus proper utilization of this early age of development can help in getting a better result.

As parents, we can help our little kids to learn by reading from books to them; Young children learn to speak by learning and practicing speech, also they learn about books and reading by being read to from books. Reading to babies is not about trying to a make great young genius. It is about sharing something that is fun, using a book as a good vehicle for an exchange of ideas and conversations. Likewise, using picture books with young children, pointing to and talking about the illustration can help them to develop their understanding of the meaning of words.

They can even point to a picture and talk or make noises about what they can see, but if you realize that the book which you have chosen, is not interesting as you first thought, and the child is getting bored, please don’t try to finish it, it is fine to leave unsuitable books half way.

The intellectual factors and the non-intellectual factors cannot be separated from a child that desires to be great in life. For instance a child can only maximise its intelligence quotient, if he is fully motivated, either by parents, caregiver or close relatives. This indicates that non-intelligence factor have a positive effect on intellectual development of a child.
