Early childhood education methods

Allow the children to learn in a variety of games. A game which can be an activity that people participate in, together or on their own, it can also be an aspect of competitive activity. Game is the main activity of per-school children, it helps the children's  to know  the things that are around, the living environment and  it also assist them to develop intelligent mindset. So give the child the opportunity to buy or borrow an intelligent toy in order to play with them. Expose them to varieties of games.
Provide music environment for the kids:  Music not only create a happy mood in children, it also promotes their emotions and other psychological and aesthetic quality of development, thereby improving health, increase knowledge and develop skills. For example: putting some songs in favor of children's physical and mental health, learning a variety of pianos and so on.

Parents should live by examples: Set a good example for your children to follow. Parents are the people’s children spend the longest time with, making them to imitate their parents very strongly.  Children watch every move they made, every word they speak and every action they take. So parents must strive to lay a good foundation by living a good life.

Guide the children to learn with the nature and social life: Natural and social environment can best attract the kids, the kids are most likely to arouse the desire to explore. Therefore, holidays through which the nature can be explored should not be taken from children, with extra- lesson and any of such things. Children should be allowed to have more fun and quality playtime during holiday periods.

Encouraging training of child’s sensory organs: In preschool the development of children specific visual thinking is encouraged, as they rely on these relatively well- developed sense organs to capture the image and character of things taught in the classrooms. The quality of sensory organ function, cognitive development of children is of decisive significance, so we need to pay attention to the training of child's sensory organs.

Learning languages during children developing period: Early language learning occurs during the initial development  period of a child. All human mental activity especially in children can greatly be enhanced with the development of intellectual activity along side with the language tool functions; it plays a very significant role in all learning abilities.

The Difference Between Early Childhood And Primary Education

Early childhood education and elementary education are two interrelated phases,
  • Early Childhood Education is a non- compulsory education, while primary education is compulsory. Compulsory education with the mandatory, universal and other features that make each school-age children to receive compulsory education is compulsory schools, parents and the community. Therefore, parents must have school-age children in order to attend primary school education.

  •  Early childhood education and primary education are both aim to teach, early childhood education for children in addition to a comprehensive and harmonious development of elementary education, it also adds to the care and upbringing of the children. Primary education will have to be based on certain training objectives and curriculum standards for the child purposeful, planned moral, intellectual, physical and other comprehensive education for sustainable development. Each course has a clear and specific teaching objectives and teaching requirements.

  •  Early childhood programs and elementary school curriculum -based programs are comprehensive, but early childhood education has the integration of the relative degree of primary and secondary education is much deeper, much greater intensity, because children need in most part of the world is initially general basic understanding. Kindergarten curriculum mainly has five areas: health, language, social, scientific and artistic. The primary school curriculum has relatively more: mathematics, science, foreign languages, comprehensive practical activities, sports, arts or music and so on.

  •  Play-based early childhood education focuses on children in the game to learn and experience at the event, while Primary education places focus on classroom teaching. In addition to the form of teaching teachers taught, they should also attaches great importance to allow students to observe, think, operate, explore, and discuss other ways to express knowledge and learning ability.

The Non-Intellectual Factors Of Early Childhood Education

The non-intellectual factors that are covered under the early childhood education are good character, talent, emotions, motivation and interest. Early children education is not only for child intellectual development, it is also for the development of a child character, just as the saying goes, good character leads to success in life. Character training has become one of the non-intelligence factors in early education that every child needs. The child must cultivate a good character from the beginning.

Good character in early children education is a broad term that comprises of been honest, tolerate, self-confidence, kind, focused, living happily, hard-working and learn to be independence. Any child that grows with these attitudes is destined for success in life and will definitely become a hero among his generation. Let me talk little about this good character terms:

1. Developing self-confidence; one of the non-intelligence factors for achieving lasting success in life is self-confidence. It helps to achieve set goals. Self-confidence can be formed in a child. For instance, when a child accomplishes something great, such a child should be praised by an adult either by parent or teacher. Such positive reaction from an adult to a child, always encouraging the child to make progress and he/she will grow towards developing self-confidence, likewise when a child does wrong, he should be calmly criticized.

2. Honesty; There is a common saying that honesty is the best policy, the wisdom behind this saying is not immediately evident. What is immediately evident to the superficial observer or a short sighted person is that honesty does not pay, that is, dishonesty that pays. For instance an honest man, who becomes a head of state, or a governor, can remain relatively poor or never becomes rich, because he/she refuses to avail himself of several opportunities of enriching himself through dishonest means such as embezzlement of public funds. But a dishonest man in the same position avails himself of all these opportunities and by the time he leaves office, he becomes a wealthy man. In Ancient Greece, a man by name Thrasymachus argued precisely along this line and maintained that honesty was not worth practicing because the honest man is always the loser while the dishonest man always triumphs, but Socrates, the great philosopher had a hard time trying to convince Thrasymachus that he was mistaken.

3. Discipline; this is when a person is able to control his passions, emotions, desires and appetites. As we know, man is a rational animal, this means that human nature includes both rationality and animalistic. A person who is self-disciplined is a one whose reason successfully keeps his animal aspect in check. We should know that the desire for food, for pleasure, money or comfort is not bad in themselves, but they are insatiable and tend to reduce man to the animal level when they are not checked by reason. Greediness, selfishness, impatience are the results of the manifestations of indiscipline. We find indiscipline everywhere in our society and is one of the major obstacles to the development of any country. One of the qualities that are essential for good and effective leadership is discipline.

4. Tolerance; this is the mark of respect for the freedom and dignity of other people. In a society where there is freedom of belief, freedom of religion, the freedom to hold any opinion and to belong to any association of one’s choice, there is need to tolerate for peace to reign. Also tolerance means allowing other people to hold their own views; beliefs and opinions (provided of course that such beliefs, views or opinion are not harmful to the society). Tolerance does not mean condoning evil, if somebody is doing what is evil and we allow him to continue without warning him or advising him to stop it, we are not being tolerant.

Intolerance breeds hatred, conflict and destruction of the society. But it is a boomerang which hits back at the person from whom it goes out, so that the intolerant man also suffers the consequence of his intolerance. Intolerance is a mark of incivility, if we want peace, if we think we are civilized, we should then  be broad-minded and be prepared to be tolerant. Peace and intolerance do not go together. Where there is intolerance, there can be no peace.

What is the Relevance of Early Childhood Education?

Some Early childhood educator believes that, the early children's education starting so early is not bad, currently, it is noticed that most experts believe that early childhood education is the focus of education before the age of 3-5years.

  • Early childhood is a critical period of intellectual development of a child. If close attention is paid to it, early education can improve learning outcomes. For example, some believe that, during the 2-3 year old children are in their best age to learn spoken language, language learning is best at the latest not more than 4-5 years of age, children can learn a foreign language because at this time, they are not confused with the national language; 5 or 5and  half years old is the best age to master a few concepts, while 6 years old is the development of the size, orientation perceived best age.

  • Human intelligence or mental ability is as a result of genetic and environmental interactions. Kimura, a Japanese scholar long believed that the potential of children follows a law of diminishing return. That children were born with a potential capacity of 100 points, and it would be ideal if early education can began with the 100 capacity, but If education start from the age of five, the child can only have 80 point ability, while, If education start from the age of 10, the child can only have 60 points to become human ability.

  • Early education can promote brain development. Some parents worry that the implementation of early education for children, they says that it can make their children’s brain get tired, in fact, such worries are unnecessary. Some researchers have studied the biochemical changes in the brains of animals. The facts show that early environmental stimuli and rich learning opportunities not only does not harm brain development, but also promote the development of the brain. From these few points, you can understand why early childhood education is important.

Early Childhood Education Concept

Early childhood education is a concept that focuses on the development of the intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors that are needed for the optimal development of a child. It also deals with the enlightenment of the parents or caregiver view on child education. The implementation of early education of a child has the potential to accelerate the development of the child in mental and psychological functions.

The first place a child experience any form of education is the family, so parents are the first teacher’s children are exposed to. The best time to initiate the early childhood education is between zeros to six years, if this specific period in a child's development life is missing, its desired goal may be compromised.

From the psychological point of view, from zero to six years of the child development and growth is a critical period, in which solid foundation that can help the child to have a strong psychological interest can be laid. The early child education is not only about the intellectual development of the child as the non-intellectual also plays a vital role in the overall development and future usefulness of a child.

Some of the intellectual factors that early childhood education seeks to address are child intelligence (the ability to learn), perception, imagination, thinking and so on. The intelligence or ability to learn refers to the child's intelligence quotient, children are known to have a rapid intelligence quotient growth, and thus proper utilization of this early age of development can help in getting a better result.

As parents, we can help our little kids to learn by reading from books to them; Young children learn to speak by learning and practicing speech, also they learn about books and reading by being read to from books. Reading to babies is not about trying to a make great young genius. It is about sharing something that is fun, using a book as a good vehicle for an exchange of ideas and conversations. Likewise, using picture books with young children, pointing to and talking about the illustration can help them to develop their understanding of the meaning of words.

They can even point to a picture and talk or make noises about what they can see, but if you realize that the book which you have chosen, is not interesting as you first thought, and the child is getting bored, please don’t try to finish it, it is fine to leave unsuitable books half way.

The intellectual factors and the non-intellectual factors cannot be separated from a child that desires to be great in life. For instance a child can only maximise its intelligence quotient, if he is fully motivated, either by parents, caregiver or close relatives. This indicates that non-intelligence factor have a positive effect on intellectual development of a child.
